I linked to this blog the other day so if you followed it, you’ve probably read this already. But if you haven’t, go ahead and read it now. A fine, lucid indictment of the wishy-washiness of Hollywood celebs. He’s got it exactly correct. For the past 8 years, nobody has stopped anybody from “serving their country.” In fact, many in Hollywood have been downright hateful in their criticism of the country. Remember Alec Baldwin’s promise to move out of the country when Bush was elected? A promise that sadly, wasn’t kept.

But elect the lefty Democrat and all of a sudden, they’re “patriotic” again. I find it all really disgusting. Until every Hollywood celebrity starts taking coach-class flights, driving SmartCars, and living in condos or apartments (furthering reducing their “carbon footprint”), and unloading at least 10% of their income to charity, they have absolutely no credibility with me (or hopefully, with any other person with 1/4 of a functioning brain) (my note part 1: I realize that many celebrities in fact, do a lot to live “green” [e.g. Ed Begley Jr.] and do a lot for charity, but I believe their the exception rather than the rule).

Breitbart also makes the correct point that “Hollywood” flourished during the Bush years – it was good times all around (my note part 2: until the Dems took over Congress and the economy went to crap). The best line of the op-ed comes from a reader that emailed him in the midst of his writing: “Reminder to liberal celebrities: It’s time to set your Fluctuating Patriotism  Clock from “Hate America” to “Love America” on Jan. 20th.”

Many of us don’t agree with Obama’s agenda nor voted for him, but I want him to succeed. I don’t want him to succeed in all he said he’d do, but I want him to be “successful” in discharging his duties of protecting our nation. Real Americans don’t base their love of country on who’s currently in power – they love their country irrespective – even when it’s not “their guy” in the White House. Those of us that didn’t vote for him are going to keep doing what we’ve always done – working to provide for ourselves and hopefully, keep the feds out of our hair.

On the plus side of all of Hollywood’s idiotic, nonsensical, narcissistic, anti-American/pro-Obama blathering, I’ve managed to save a ton of entertainment dollars over the past year by not going to the movies to support them. It used to be that I would go to see a movie because of a particular actor. Now I avoid movies because of a particular actor.
